• GP63EX70 / RF02 / 0e8d:1887 for validated xbox 360 disc play; ASUS DRW-24D5MT / 2.00 (native SATA) and GP57EB40 / PB00 (USB) are experimental with XGD2 Wave 2 only
• your own 512-byte MCPX 1.0 rom and compatible xbox bios for original xbox

the new SP80NB80 / RF02 profile is experimental and limited to original xbox XGD1 media. its exact identity and stock register map are confirmed; physical activation, play, and restoration testing are still pending.

close drive diagnostics before opening gdox for a drive test.

leave the stock cd-rom and usb storage drivers on the drive. do not install winusb, zadig, or any third-party optical driver.

setup

1. extract the complete windows archive.
2. open the extracted folder and run gdox.exe.
3. open sources and add original xbox firmware if needed.
4. connect the drive, then insert a supported disc. use Drive on play to choose it when multiple drives are connected.
5. wait for the game name, then choose start.
6. after play, quit the emulator normally and wait for gdox to finish restoring and releasing the drive.

keep the folder together. gdox verifies its matching runtimes before launch.

your settings, firmware, saves, and profiles live in your appdata folder, so replacing the release folder leaves them alone.

choosing a drive

the Drive menu on play and preserve lists each device by model, connection, and location. choose one or leave it on Automatic. a saved choice stays selected if disconnected.

stop playback or preservation before switching. if another drive needs restoration, you can select a healthy drive while gdox keeps the old drive's warning and cleanup separate.

firmware imports

valid BIOS and boot ROM imports now work even when xemu setup fails. sources shows the actual setup error and keeps imported firmware visible.

if standalone xemu works but gdox is not ready, choose Use included xemu in sources. gdox needs its matching runtime for save handling. if it is missing, sources shows the expected path: runtime\xemu\xemu.exe beside gdox.exe. keep the complete extracted folder together.

0.2.8 keeps setup and quit responsive while work finishes, and retains a selected xemu even if its setup fails. wait for the displayed result before starting a game.

asus drive cleanup fixed in 0.2.4

gdox 0.2.4 completes safe restoration of the ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U / A202 when its disc is removed after play. it also releases the stale windows command channel after a confirmed USB disconnect.

if 0.2.3 is still showing a restoration warning, close gdox, unplug the drive for ten seconds, then install the current version from the complete archive. reconnect the drive after gdox is closed.

gdox changes only the drive's temporary memory and never flashes its firmware.
